We can hardly wait for Saturday March 1!!!!
Our mouths are watering as we think of all the delicious eats that the Chefs from the North Vancouver Island Chefs Association will be whipping up tomorrow using ingredients from our vendors.
One of the dishes is Pouding chômeur à l’érable or Québécois Maple Pudding. Chef Ronald St Pierre has provided three versions of this classic recipe, including a Farmers’ Market Version. This recipe uses honey which we have at the market year round. At the market tomorrow you will be able to find honey from Simply Divine Honey and Big D’s Bees.
The Chefs will also be using products from vendors such as Erica’s Sweets ‘N Stuff, Rock Bottom Farm, Forest Valley Acres, Surfside Fungus Farm, As You Like It Products and Catering, RAD Farm, Ridgewood Farms Merville BC, Fireweed Farmstead, Raven’s Moon Craft Cider & Blue Moon Farm and so many more to make Quebecois-style Split Pea Soup, Potato Fricassée with Salted Pork, Cretons and a Sugar-shack style Omelet.
The Chefs will be onsite between 9:30-12:30 (Market hours remain the same at 9-1) demonstrating cooking techniques as well as showing us how to make the most of in-season ingredients. Samples will also be served throughout the event or until they are gone.
Come on down to the Native Sons Hall tomorrow (Saturday) and check out FoodFest as well as all the delicious local products that our vendors will have.
You can find recipes for these dishes below. Bon appetite!
