Merville Organics is a grower's cooperative of 5 farms. We are all certified organic or transitioning to certified and aim to grow the healthiest, pesticide-free and non-GMO food for our community. We love growing greens, veggies, plant starts and experimental crops like ginger and sweet potato. Come say hi to Arzeena, Robin, Kira, Moss, Russell or Neil when you stop by our stand.
McClintocks farm is a mixed farm offering U pick raspberries and blueberries on the farm, award winning sweet corn at the farmers market. We also have a new water buffalo dairy, supplying milk for mozzarella cheese made at Natural Pastures Cheese in Courtenay.
We have recently introduced our new line of water buffalo yogurt at the Farmers' Market!
Our buffalo graze exclusively from April through until October which means our yogurt is 100% grass fed during those months. During the winter when the grass is not growing and grazing is not an option, we feed grass silage and non-GMO corn silage. We do not feed grain of any kind. We are happy to discuss our reasons for choosing to feed corn silage during the winter months so stop by the Farmers' Market and ask away!
We grow certified organic apples, pears, quince and plums on our Denman Island farm.
Some of our varieties that we grow are: Gravenstein, Belle de Boskoop, bramley seedling, purple Spartan. Transparent, gala, Mutsu, Golden Russet, Bosc and Conference pears and Italian prune plums, and quince.
We also sell pasteurized apple juice - a mixed pressing of all our apple varieties.
